MISSION STATEMENT
To provide a safe haven for all members of the GLBT Community in and around the Ashtabula County, Ohio area in order to promote a more accepting as well as equal society in our small area of the country. It is our belief that members of the GLBT Community provide just as much influence on our society as any other member of the area, and thus the same respect should be given to all.
We will do this through outreach, informational seminars, events, activities and support. These are available to all members of society, so that they can see the importance of equality and acceptance of all, without the barriers that have, until now, stood between the people of varying sexual orientations.
HISTORY
The AGLBTOA was formed in November 2008 by the current Director, Jayson Nadolny and a group of friends who wanted to see more resources for the GLBT Community in Ashtabula, Ohio. It was a very slow start, but resources were being pooled to find a way to provide SOMETHING to the community.
In February 2009, a Board of Directors was formed and members began joining the organization through the organization's MySpace page. Since that time, many changes and updates have taken place.
On August 22nd, 2009 the AGLBTOA welcomed the community to Geneva State Park to have a fun, relaxed picnic focused on families and friends. The Picnic was a great success and the story continues...
